Description

Euphyllia glabrescens (Avalanche Holy Grail Torch)

AT A GLANCE
Quick facts: Care level: Easy–Moderate · Lighting: Moderate · Flow: Low–Moderate · Feeding: Benefits from feeding

WHY SHOULD I BUY THIS CORAL?
The Avalanche Holy Grail Torch Coral is an elite, collector‑grade Euphyllia prized for its striking “avalanche” colour pattern—featuring ultra‑bright white to icy cream tentacles overlaid with intense neon gold and accented by vivid green tips. This dramatic contrast gives the coral a glowing, snow‑and‑gold appearance unlike standard Holy Grail variants. With long, flowing tentacles and exceptional fluorescence, the Avalanche Holy Grail delivers breathtaking movement and unmistakable premium presence in high‑end reef aquariums.

CARE LEVEL
Easy–Moderate
Suitable for established reef systems with stable and consistently maintained water parameters.

WATER REQUIREMENTS & GENERAL CARE

• Temperature: 24–27 °C
• Salinity: 1.024–1.026 (32–35 ppt)
• pH: 8.1–8.4
• Alkalinity: 8–10 dKH
• Calcium: 400–450 ppm
• Magnesium: 1250–1350 ppm
Excellent parameter stability is essential to preserve the coral’s bright white tones, gold saturation, and tissue health.

LIGHTING
• Moderate
• PAR Range: 100–180 PAR

Moderate lighting brings out the strongest avalanche contrast and fluorescence. Gradual acclimation is critical to prevent colour stress or bleaching.

PLACEMENT
• Bottom / Lower–Mid rockwork

Place on stable rockwork or the sandbed with the skeleton fully supported. Allow generous spacing due to long sweeper tentacles.

FLOW
• Low–Moderate

Provide gentle, indirect flow that allows the tentacles to sway freely without excessive whipping or collapse.

FEEDING
• Photosynthetic: Benefit from feeding
Recommended feeding schedule:
• 1–2 times per week
Accepted foods:
• Finely chopped mysis or brine shrimp
• LPS pellets
• Reef roids or fine powdered coral foods
• Liquid coral foods or amino acids

Target feeding supports thicker tentacles, stronger growth, and maximum colour intensity.

COMPATIBILITY & BEHAVIOUR
• Temperament: Semi aggressive
• Long sweeper tentacles, especially at night
• Requires significant spacing from neighbouring corals
• Can coexist with other Euphyllia species if ample room is provided

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
• Family: Euphylliidae
• Origin: Indo‑Pacific
• Natural Habitat: Sheltered reef slopes and lagoonal environments
• Typical Depth Range: 5–30 m
